Community Wellness Unit

The Community Wellness Unit (CWU) aims to increase tenant participation within our buildings, by encouraging tenants to take initiative and engage in issues that affect them, their homes and their community at large. The CWU is a pilot project, adopted by the Toronto Community Housing Tenant Participation System.

This Unit is a formal system of participation—promoting cohesion and collaboration in community building. It functions as a formal body that connects tenants with one another, their communities and Madulammoho/MES staff, opening our channels of communication while fostering healthy, two-way mutually satisfying relationships.

The community Wellness Unit works to mobilize and empower tenants to set priorities, solve problems and develop a stronger sense of ownership over their homes and connection to the community.

From the 14th of November to the 18th of November we are hosting information sessions at all of our projects to spread awareness about our Community Wellness Unit and the upcoming elections. These sessions will provide tenants with the tools and information they need to participate in tenant elections, so that interested candidates can be nominated or nominate themselves to become a Community Wellness Officer and to ensure that all tenants exercise their right to vote on election day.
